Locally, several companies, agencies, and financial institutions make co-operative education oportunities available for inisurance students. Thomas & Farr Independent Agency, Community Financial Insurance Center, Chase Manhattan Mortgage Company, America First Insurance, Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services and local State Farm Agents, are among the employers who participate with the Program.

In 2006 we established the first Risk Management Student Mentor Program. Mentors are professionals from the underwriting claims and production areas of insurance. The program is funded by the John & Mary Richters Risk Management and Insurance Mentorship Fund which was established in honor of ULM Provost Steve Richters' parents.

There are also Summer Internships available at the national level which ULM Insurance students have been successful in obtaining. These include the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, the International Reinsurance Underwriters, and State Farm Insurance.
