FLIGHT SIMULATORS

NOW FULLY QUALIFIED AS LEVEL 3 FTDs

The Aviation Department now has three new flight simulators from Fidelity Flight Simulation, Inc. These MOTUS flight of motion cueing for enhanced instrument training. All these simulators are two position - Pilot and Co-Pilot. We have a single engine piston simulator, a twin engine piston simulator, and a twin engine turbine simulator.

The full motion capability of the simulators is something that needs to be experienced. Our students were completely overwhelmed by the realism of the motion and the light modeling. We have a hard time keeping students OUT of thse simulators.

Our simulators are now qualified as Level 3 FTDs. This is significant in that now our students can have cost savings of up to 40% while obtaining an instrument rating and up to 20% while obtaining a commercial pilot rating. Courses for pilots not enrolled in the university will be added to the Continuing Education Program as the need arises.

Of course, for our Aviation Majors, all instruction in the simulators is FREE!

Please note:

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) now requires non-U.S. citizens and other designated individuals to register with and be approved by TSA before training can begin.

The inside of a simulator. Notice the Garmin 430 GPS in the top middle of the screen.
The instructors workstation. Complete control of the simulator is accomplished from this station. The instructor can see the pilot's instrument panel on his left monitor and he can view the aircraft from any position outside the aircraft or "call up" any control or information screen he chooses.
